Why do I call it the best veggie burger recipe ever? Because both vegetarians and carnivores are crazy about it.
Tell me something, when you think about the best burger how do you imagine it?
Is it full of meat? Loaded with pickles and cheese? What about the sauce?
By now, I am sure you are thinking about a loaded, humongous and tasty burger. And that is the same thing that we all imagine when we think about burgers.
But would you ever think the perfect one could be vegetarian? That’s right, no meat.
I know if you are a meat lover then you are probably rushing to close this page now, but stick around ’cause trust me, it gets interesting (and delish).
If you are a carnivore you must be wondering how on earth can you call a veggie burger perfect?
Well, in that case, you really need to try the veggie burger recipe that I just made.
And let me tell you why.

First of all, and most important, this meatless burger is actually tasty.
I know that when it comes to veggie burgers our options are quite poor.
And what’s worse is that the ones that we do find are incredibly dull with no taste whatsoever.
More than that (yes, it gets even worse) many homemade veggie burger recipes are not easy to make. Unless you make it only with tomatoes and cheese which is too bland for my taste.
You need to prepare some mixture in the oven (soy or beans) to replace the meat, which can be a little time-consuming.
These are just some of the problems that I found when trying to find the best veggie burger recipe.
And in case you’re wondering, I was looking for one because I recently decided to cut down the meat in my diet.
I did that because I find it healthier and it actually makes me feel better. But this is a story for some other time.
After seeing these issues I decided to tackle them heads on.
I mean, a burger should be all about taste (for carnivores and vegetarians alike) and simplicity.
And the one I made today has it all. It’s super delish and even a kid can make it.
But just to be clear, this recipe is not for all types of vegetarians.
Note that there are three kinds of vegetarianism:
- Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian: doesn’t eat meat, fish and poultry but eats dairy and eggs.
- Lacto Vegetarian: eats dairy products but not eggs
- Ovo Vegetarian: eats eggs but not dairy products
So this veggie burger recipe is for the Lacto-Ovo vegetarians and carnivores that want to cut down meat in their diets.
Another reason why you need to try this meatless burger is that it’s actually healthy.
I know a lot of people have this problem when it comes to burgers and for this reason, many avoid them, even though they badly crave for one.
Admittedly, I am one of them. A lot of times I would gobble up a large one but my waistline is more important.
And honestly, it’s for good reason because not all of them are 100% healthy or waist-friendly.
But things are different with veggie burgers, aren’t they? Are they really?
Are veggie burgers healthy?
It all comes down to the ingredients.
Most of them are made with legumes, vegetables and whole grains, so they are healthy and a good source of fibers, vitamins and minerals.
But there are some store-bought ones that contain a lot of preservatives. These also happen to have long and complicated ingredient lists.
So if you are planning to go for those then it might be wise to read that label carefully.
As a rule of thumb, it’s good to choose the ones that keep the ingredients as simple as possible.
Another thing to be aware of is that some store-bought veggie burgers aren’t even made with proper vegetables.
They are made of highly processed soy and they are rich in sodium which could lead to health issues.
So in my opinion, if you want to make healthy veggie burgers then you need to make them yourself.
This way you have more control over the ingredients.
I mean just take a look at my homemade veggie burger recipe.
I made it with simple ingredients which anybody can understand and find at their local supermarket.
Nothing complicated or processed. Just some good ol’ veggies, egg and cheese.
And among those veggies, you’ll find some avocado which is super-healthy and has so many proven benefits.
So remember: homemade is always better and healthier.
Now you know why you need to try this recipe and make your own veggie burger.
It’s easy, tasty and healthy. Everything a foodie could wish for.
This is why I called it the best veggie burger recipe ever.
So let’s not waste any more time and start making it.

Instructions
- Heat a pan over medium-high heat. Add a bit of olive oil, then add the burger buns, cut side down and slightly brown them for about 1 minute.

- Remove buns, lower the heat and gently crack the eggs into the pan. (add a bit more oil if necessary) . Season with salt and pepper to your taste, and add a pinch of chili flakes. Cook the eggs to your liking. (I cooked mine until the egg white was set and the yolk runny, about 3 minutes.)
- To assemble the burgers, first, add rocket leaves to the buns. Then add tomato and avocado slices, blue cheese, eggs and marinated red onion. Finish the burger by adding the other half of the bun on top.
